The plant was founded in 1969 as a branch of the Production Association named after V.I. Lenin. From 1969 to 2001, the plant was renamed twice, and since 2001 it was called – Unitary enterprise "Kletsk Mechanical Plant" Open Joint Stock Company "Minsk Instrument-Making Plant". By Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and Order of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus No. 816 dated November 27, 2007, the enterprise was renamed into the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Kletsk Mechanical Plant”. (briefly, SE “Kletsk Mechanical Plant”), separated from OJSC “Minsk Instrument-Making Plant”. On January 16, 2009, the enterprise was renamed OJSC Kletsk Mechanical Plant.
The plant belongs to the machine-building industry and is part of the BELAVTOMAZ holding. The company is one of the largest factories in the city of Kletsk in terms of the number of employees.
The company is one of the leading suppliers of harness products for MAZ vehicles.
